Abstract

A description is given of what to look for in selecting a candidate reservoir for alkaline flooding, how to pilot test the process and the experience gained from field applications to date. At present, there appears to be a renewal of interest in alkaline flooding and a number of new field applications are expected in coming years. Attractions of the process include its simplicity, its low cost and the ready availability of suitable alkaline chemicals. 12 refs.
