Abstract

Abstract: A field experiment was initiated to know the growth and productivity of A. mangium clones during 2002 in degraded red soil at Main Agricultural Research Station, UAS, Dharwad. The experiment consisted of five clones of A. mangium viz., A. mangium hybrid SV- 40, A. mangium, A. spring well, A. hybrid clone (seed), A. hybrid (roof) sixteen seedlings were planted at 2 m x 2 m Randomized Block Design in four replications. Height and diameter at breast height were significantly superior in A. mangium hybrid SV- 40 clone (10.30 m and 24.18 cm respectively) followed by A. mangium as compared to the others. Current annual increment and mean annual increment of height (0.90 cm and 1.29 cm respectively) and dbh (2.58 cm and 3.02 cm respectively) were also higher in A. Mangium hybrid SV- 40 as compared to other clones of A. mangium.
