Abstract
The maximum conversion efficiency ηmax of black-body radiation is found to be strongly dependent on the solid angle ω subtended by the source of radiation. It is proved that ηmax has an upper bound which depends on ω. This upper bound is more accurate than existing formulas, which do not depend on ω.
