Determination of harvest residues of Matco 8–64 (metalaxyl 8%+mancozeb 64%) in kinnow mandarin fruits and soil

Abstract

Field trials were conducted at PAU, Regional Station, Abohar to estimate harvest residue of Matco 8–64(metalaxyl 8% + mancozeb 64%) in Kinnow mandarin fruits and soil during February, 2006 to January, 2007. Three doses of the fungicide, 2.5g/l, 5.0g/l and 10g/l and untreated control were evaluated by applying the treatment in soil as soil drench and spray using ten litre of water per tree. The treatments were given in February and again in August, 2006. The fruit and soil samples were collected in January, 2007 for residue analysis. The residue of metalaxyl was detected by GLC and mancozeb by spectrophotometrically from B.C.K.V., Mohanpur, West Bengal. The results revealed that metalaxyl and mancozeb residue of Matco 8–64 were at below the detectable limits at harvest in Kinnow fruits and soil. Therefore, the application of Matco 8–64 in soil and spray at the recommended rates(25g/tree in 10 litres of water as soil drench and spray2.5g/l of water) is advocated for the management of citrus foot rot/gummosis caused by Phytophthora parasitica.
