Abstract
TWENTY-SEVEN MORTAR BATCHES WERE PREPARED AND AIR VOID PARAMETERS OF EACH WERE DETERMINED MICROSCOPICALLY. THESE PARAMETERS WERE USED TO INVESTIGATE THE EFFECT OF AIR ENTRAINING AGENTS, RETARDERS, MIXING PROCEDURES, AND THE INTERACTION OF THESE FACTORS ON THE AIR VOID SYSTEM. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FACTORS INVESTIGATED YIELDED SOME SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES IN THE AIR VOID SYSTEMS. /AUTHOR/
