Abstract
A computer-based power advisory and control system continually advises power operators which of 31 pieces of equipment to run and how to load that equipment to satisfy steam, electrical, compressed air, and refrigeration demands of the plant while spending the least total dollars for coal and purchased electricity. It automatically controls loading of the major equipment in service while continuing to advise the operator when a different selection of equipment would result in a lower total cost. Its ability to optimize selection and loading, on line, of a variety of types of industrial power equipment is unique in the energy management field.
