Abstract
A pot experiment was conducted during kharif 1999 to study the effect of different nutrient levels on yield and nutrient content of fodder cowpea. The study was initiated on loamy sand soil (Typic Ustochrept), collected from ongoing long term experimental site. Different 18 treatments were superimposed on the soils collected from different pots. The results revealed that application of 150% NPK with farm yard manure (FYM) @ 25 t ha−1 recorded the highest green and dry matter yield of fodder cowpea followed by 100% NPK+FYM. It was also observed that application of sulphur and zinc with recommended dose of NPK fertilizers increased the crop yield over control. Application of 150% NPK along with FYM proved to be the best for getting the highest nitrogen and potassium content as well as uptake. The highest phosphorus content of fodder cowpea was observed when 150% PK applied whereas the highest phosphorus removal by crop was recorded with application of 150% NPK+FYM.
