Open publisher page 80 citations

Abstract

This book provides, in one volume, a practical and comprehensive description of the Latest methods and applications in clinical neurophysiology. All aspects of the subject are covered, including electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG) and the use of evoked responses. For each area, an account is given of the techniques used to record, analyse and display neurophysiological signals. The normal limits of the recorded phenomena in the healthy population are defined, the underlying neural mechanisms are discussed and the characteristic abnormalities encountered in various disorders of the nervous system are described. This Textbook of Clinical Neurophysiology is therefore a tutorial review of the most up-to-date practice. It concentrates on the procedures and applications whose clinical value is already well established, and on the assessment of emerging techniques. All chapters are contributed by leading experts in the field, practising clinicians known for their scientific distinction and for their skills as communicators and teachers. Those entering this speciality for the first time as well as established neurophysiologists requiring an update on the best current practice should find this text useful.
