Abstract

A class of Stirling engines is proposed. The essential new element of this class of Stirling engine is a three-layer heat exchanger. The central layer is the regenerator. Due to the inherently low flow losses of this new class of Stirling engine, air can be used for convenience and safety and lower cost with only a minor penalty. 27 refs.
