Abstract

Protein-energy malnutrition has been identified as major health problems in India. This study was done in 100 children ( age 1-4years) suffering from protein-energy malnutrition and compared it with apparently healthy children(100) which served as control . The antioxidants which were studied were zinc, copper and iron and it was seen that children suffering from protein –energy malnutrition have significantly low levels as compared to healthy children (p<0.05).
