Abstract
Summary The extraction of thorium from nitric acid solutions into xylene solutions of a quaternary ammonium salt (Aliquat-336) has been investigated. Aliquat-336 presenta a high affinity for thorium with a maximum of extraction in the range 3-4 M HNO3. The species extracted into organic phase appears to be Th(NO3)6 2-.
