Abstract An account is given on the different properties of irrigation systems needed to fulfill the water requirements of bananas and plantains. Topics covered include: irrigation systems (flood or furrow irrigation, overcanopy sprinklers, undercanopy sprinklers, microjet or microspinners, and drip irrigation); irrigation scheduling; and irrigation depths for plantains.
