Abstract
Two polyaromatic acid transition metal complexes: {[Cd(phen)(O 2 C )2 C 4 N 2 H 2 ]-H 2 O) n (1), and {[Mn(phen)(O 2 C) 2 C 4 N 2 H 2 ]'H 2 O) n (2) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The structural analysis reveals that compound 1 and compound 2 are almost isostructural. The metal atoms are linked by bridging 2,3-dicarboxylatopyrazinc ligands to form 2-D layer network, and have a coordination number six.
