Abstract

Harriet Anna Mayor Fulbright, the widow of the late United States Senator J. William Fulbright, gives the inaugural Black Mountain Institute lecture. Fulbright has received numerous awards and honorary doctorates. In 2006, she created the J. William & Harriet Fulbright Center, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting peace through international education and furthering her late husband's legacy. In this lecture she examines the qualities found in good leaders and explores the challenges faced by leaders.
