Abstract
Growing tilapia in cages in lakes, reservoirs and rivers has become a popular aquaculture activity in many parts of the world. Cage culture of tilapia is important to those farmers who wish to culture mixed-sex fish. This chapter discusses the advantages and disadvantages of cage culture; site selection and planning; cage design; fry nursing for cage culture; stocking; feeding; water quality monitoring; cage fouling; sampling and harvesting; and socioeconomic analysis of cage culture.
