Fowl Cholera in North Dakota

Fowl cholera, or pasteurellosis, caused by the microorganism pasteurella multocida, is one of the more serious disease of chickens and turkeys in northwestern states. The article begins by discussing the vaccination of fowl. Many things contributed to the incidence of this fowl disease. A poor fowl ration and/or a poor fowl management or management wrought with error(s) were some cited in this article. Several case studies are reviewed in this article to illustrate some of the factors to be considered in the epidemiology of this disease. The authors admonish farmers to prevent this disease in the first place over curing it after the fact with medications.
