Abstract

Fish, as we know, is the most important \nand readily exploitable of all \nprotein source from the sea. The \ndominant groups of fishes contributing \nto the pelagic fisheries in any part of \nthe world are Clupeioids and Scombraids. \nOf the total marine fish landings \nin India, according to the recent trends, \nalmost 50% are composed of these \nfishes known under the popular \nnames sardines, anchovies, white-baits, \nmackerel, tunnies, etc.
