A Study on Urban System Structure and Its Fractal Model in Gansu Province of China

At first, the paper discusses the scale structure of the urban system of Gansu province by figuring out the primate city index, the scale imbalance index and the fractal dimension of the town-size distribution of Gansu province. Then analyses, the spatial structure of the urban system by using the city-town density and the spatial correlation dimension. According to these analyses, it points out there are some deficiencies in the urban system of Gansu province, such as: the law of the primate city is too big, there is a faultage in the urban system, spatial structure is illogical, the capacity of spatial interaction is weak. Through analyzing the present feature of the scale structure and the spatial structure, the paper puts forward the direction for developing the urban system of Gansu province: take middle-small cities on stress, perfect the urban system of Gansu province.
