Abstract
P/sup 32/ was injected intramuscularly (0.1 mu c/g) in mice after a whole-body x irradiation of 50 to 600 r, and then radioactivity in various organs and relative specific activlties (RSA) were measured. ln normal mice, different organs show different values of RSA. Effects of whole-body x irradiation on various organs and tissues varied with the time after irradiation. The spleen, bone marrow, and testis were extremely radiosensitive, and either less recovering tendency or none was found when a large dose was given. In these organs, the turnover rate of phosphorus appeared distinctly disturbed even 6 hours after x irradiation. Other organs showed a slight recovery reaction from radiation injury 24 to 36 hours after irradiation. The grade of radiation injury did not show an actual parallelism to the dose given, but it was evident that a large- dose irradiation resulted in gross changes. (Abstr. Japan Med., 1: No. l3,
