Abstract

Acid solutions of ferrous thiocyanate were exposed to gamma radiation in the presence or absence of oxygen. The variation in the yields of cyanide, sulfate, and ferric ions was studied as a function of the thiocyanate ion and sulfuric acid concentrations. From these yields, a simplified scheme for the radiolysis mechanism of ferrous thiocyanate could be established. (tr-auth)
