Comparative study of neuromuscular blocking effects of cisatracurium during sevoflurane and propofol anesthesia.

Abstract

Objective To compare the neuromuscular blocking effects of cisatracurium during sevoflurane and propofol anesthesia. Methods 34 patients undergoing tympanoplasty were randomly divided into 2 groups to receive sevoflurane(group S,n =16)or propofol(group P,n = 18)after cisatracurium administration. After the anesthesia was premedicated with penehyclidine hydrochloride 1.0 mg and induced with midazolam,fentanyl and propofol,cisatracurium 0.15 mg/kg (3ED95)was administered intravenously. The patients in group S were administered with 1.3MAC sevoflurane of end-tidal concentration and maintained with 0.15~0.25 μg·kg-1·min-1 remifentanil. The patients of group P were maintained with 6 mg·kg-1·h-1 propofol and 0.15~0.25 μg·kg-1·min-1 remifentanil. Both groups inhaled N2O:O2(1:1). The symptoms of histamine released (flush and bronchospasm)were observed.The variables were recorded as follows:onset time,no-response time, train-of-four ratio (TOFR)25%,75% and 90% recovery time and index. Results All patients had no histamine released symptoms. There was no significant difference in onset time and no-response time between the two groups (P 0.05). The TOFR 25%,TOFR 75%,TOFR 90% recovery time and recovery index of Group S were longer than Group P significantly(P 0.05). Conclusion The recovery time of single-intubating-bolus cisatracurium is longer during 1.3MAC sevoflurane anesthesia than that during propofol anesthesia.
