Abstract

Objective:To investigate the expression and significance of S100A11 in human gastric carcinoma and surrounding normal tissue. Methods: The expression of S100A11 in 21 matched-pairs of gastric carcinoma tissues were detected by RT-PCR and Western blot methods. Results: The relative expression value of S100A11 mRNA found in human gastric carcinoma specimens was 1.26±0.03, and that did in surrounding normal tissue specimens was 0.75±0.04(p0.05). The integral optical density value of S100A11 protein confirmed in human gastric carcinoma specimens was 0.94 ±0.05 and that did in surrounding normal tissue specimens was 0.39±0.05 (p0.05). RT-PCR and Western blot indicated expression of S100A11 in gastric carcinoma was significantly higher than that in corresponding normal stomach tissue respectively. Conclusion: The expression of S100A11 was significantly higher in gastric cancer than in control normal tissue, which suggests that S100A11 plays a role in the tumorigenesis and development of gastric carcinoma.
