Abstract

The average annual ribbonfish production of the west coast is estimated at 56,883 tonnes which forms 5.71% \nof the total fish landing of he coast. Postmonsoon m n reaIised 47% of the catch M o d by prmonm (39%) \nand m o n m (14%) seasons. This trend Is well seen In States like Maharashtra and Karnataka. In Kerala, however, \nthe peak landing (49%) was found during mosoon months while in the other two States it was during the premonsoon \nperiod. Trawl net is the only gear operated in all the States during all the seasons and It accounts few about 67% of \nthe total catch.
