Abstract
The aim of this paper is to provide readers with a broader understanding of some technical aspects of the application of state-of-the-art diesel propulsion plant design and operation, with due consideration for reliability and maintenance. Topics covered include: economic factors in the selection of main diesel propulsion systems; developments in the design of diesel engine components, such as reduction gears, elastic couplings, and clutches; fuel selection; noise and vibration reduction; performance monitoring; and maintenance planning.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
A contribution statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
Method details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Findings are not separately available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Limitations are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Application details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
