Abstract

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are crystalline carbon structures with extraordinary mechanical, chemical and electrical properties. These unique properties make CNTs potentially valuable in a wide range of end-use applications. As a consequence, we discussed background material on the chemistry and properties of CNTs that will be familiar to nanotube researchers and material on carbon nanotube based nanocomposites. It is the aim of this work to consider the approaches to chemical functionalization of CNT and to account for the advances that have been produced so far.
