Abstract
Wimpey Offshore has completed more than 60 subsea strengthening assignments on steel offshore platforms. This paper describes some of the conclusions from this experience and provides valuable feedback for the designer. Causes of damage are examined and the methodology of approach to potential strengthening and repair needs is discussed. Three case histories illustrating different types of problem and solution are presented.
