Not to import: a country's goal. [Argentina]

The drilling and production surge in Argentina could be the beginning of a major new boom. Government and industry leaders share high expectations, and both are committed to see that those hopes become reality. The immediate goals are attainment of energy self-sufficiency, exploration of previously untapped basins and startup of some challenging enhanced-recovery programs. Argentina's present policy is to attract as much outside technology and capital as possible by establishing tax incentives and investment laws for protection from internal currency problems and most importantly by opening immense virgin areas to anyone with the committment to explore. This new business climate is paying off so that by now, of the oil importers, Argentina presents the best conditions of becoming an oil exporter. This work presents detailed information on the efforts of the Argentinian oil industry to overcome the energy crisis.
