In fall 1982, 975 million CF/day of Canadian gas will start flowing through the 42-in., 823-mile, $1.5 billion pipeline now being built from the Canada-Montana border to Ventura, Iowa. The delivery of the pipe by 11,000 rail cars to the storage sites along the route represents the largest rail shipment of pipe in history. Innovative, reliable construction equipment - including a Koehring 566 hydraulic excavator and a Fiat-Allis FP120 hydraulic sideboom - deserves much credit for the line's progress.
