Abstract

Morphological features of the spinal cord of rabbits in the age aspect were studied. In this study, performed on newborns, fortnightly, monthly, two-, three-, four and six month old rabbits, presents data on the morphology medullated fibers of the white matter of the spinal cord areas of dorsal and ventral cord and agerelated changes in the percentage ratio of gray and white matter of the brain at the level CVI-VII, ThVIII-Ix and LVI-VII neuro segments. When measuring the cross-sectional area of investigated neuro segments of spinal cord it was established that the greatest crosssectional area of the spinal cord takes place in the field of С6 and L6 neurosegments, and the least in the thoracic spinal cord. In the process of development of animals the rebalancing of square of white and gray matter of the spinal cord is directed to the increase of white matter. As the result of our research it was found out: 1. Age-related changes of the micro-morphology of the spinal cord of the rabbit correspond to the General regularities of similar transformations of other animals, but their parameters and terms have significant specific features. 2. With age there is the increase of the absolute number of gray and white matter of the spinal cord, at the same time the relative amount of white matter increases more. 3. Newborn The nerve fibers of the white matter of the spinal cord of newborn are loosely myelinated. After the birth, the myelination of nerve fibers intensively proceeds to mature age, especially in the ventral cord.
