Abstract

The use of prefabricated bridge structures in order to allow projects to meet tight deadlines is illustrated in the replacement of two small bridges in Avon and Summit County, Ohio. While each structure was replaced under unique circumstances using different project-delivery methods, they both used a prefabricated alternative to speed construction. Important considerations in using prefabrication, in general, are discussed in this article, as well as details and challenges in the construction of these two bridges, in particular.
