Abstract
This report examines the feasibility of developing new and revitalizing old solar technologies for the generation of electricity. Presented in Volume 1 are the following topics: (1) a review of U.S. energy needs; (2) solar energy and its impact on nature and man; (3) changing the pattern of solar energy reliance; (4) the new solar technology; (5) specific systems for the direct collection of solar energy and its conversion to electricity; (7) the impact of solar energy utilization on the natural environment; and (8) the impact of solar energy utilization on the human environment.
